4/16/2007 - Triumph Over Tragedy, 2nd Ed.: CD/DVD Training Curriculum now available for order
Developed
from current research and a decade's worth of experiences assisting communities
in response to large-scale disasters, Triumph Over Tragedy, Second Edition
focuses on helping individuals and communities cope with the emotional impacts
of disaster events. This DVD and CD training curriculum is an extension
of the Triumph Over Tragedy, 2nd Edition training manual. These "train-the-trainer"
materials will benefit Extension professionals engaged in disaster preparation
and response, and were utilized by Extension agents in Louisiana, Mississippi,
and Alabama following Hurricane Katrina. This project was supported through
a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture, Cooperative State
Research, Education and Extension Service (USDA-CSREES), Smith-Lever Special
Needs Program (#2003-41210-01782).

Triumph
Over Tragedy, 2nd Ed., A Community Response to Managing Trauma in Times
of Disaster and Terrorism is now available for order or download from
the National Rural Behavioral Health Center. Designed and written as an
educational tool, each section of the Triumph Over Tragedy handbook is organized
as a series of informational summaries that can be easily photocopied and
used for presentations and public or professional education programs. The
manual covers individual and communitywide stress and other public reactions
after disaster, terrorism, and bioterrorism, and is designed for a wide
audience including disaster recovery planners, community leaders, first
responders, Extension professionals, health and mental health professionals,
and other community stakeholders.
