Who we are

Ron Rozensky

Ronald H. Rozensky, Ph.D., Project Director

Dr. Rozensky is a Professor in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology and Associate Dean for International Programs in the College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida. He received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in 1974. Dr. Rozensky specializes in health psychology, primary care, panic disorder, and health policy and administration. He is board certified in clinical psychology and clinical health psychology and is founding and present editor of The Journal of Clinical Psychology in Medical Settings.

Michael Perri

Michael G. Perri, Ph.D., ABPP

Dr. Perri is UF Research Foundation Professor with the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology and specializes in health promotion, obesity, and exercise. He received his Ph.D. in 1978 from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Brenda Wiens

Brenda Wiens, Ph.D., Research Assistant Professor

Dr. Wiens joined the NRBHC in October 2002. She is currently working on projects with the Columbia County School District. Dr. Wiens completed an internship in clinical child and pediatric psychology at the University of Florida Department of Clinical and Health Psychology in 2000 and later worked as a post-doctoral associate with the NRBHC's school-linked mental health services in Columbia County. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 2003. Her other interests include volunteering at Camp Boggy Creek, a weekend and summer camping program for children with chronic illnesses.

Julius Gylys

Julius Gylys , Ph.D., Clinical Assistant Professor

Dr. Gylys has been involved in the rural psychology training program in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology since 2000 and spends one day a week with graduate student trainees at Dixie and Levy county health departments. Additionally, he is a Staff Psychologist for the North Florida-South Georgia VA Medical Center's Psychology Service practicing rural, community based primary care psychology. Dr. Gylys received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Ohio University in 2000. His interests include smoking cessation, rural behavior health, interpersonal psychotherapy, and primary care clinical and health psychology.

Michael Perri

Russell M. Bauer, Ph.D., ABPP, Chair

Dr. Bauer is Professor and Chair in the Department of Clinical & Health Psychology. He received his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University in 1979 and conducts research in adult neuropsychology, memory disorders, epilepsy, emotion, and functional neuroimaging.

Nayda Torres

Nayda I. Torres, Ph.D., Extension Director

Dr. Torres is the Chair for the Department of Family, Youth and Community Sciences and Assistant Dean of Extension for Family and Consumer Sciences Programs. Dr. Torres works closely with Extension Specialists through State Major Program Design Teams and other organizations to encourage progressive and timely delivery of research-based education to various user groups. Dr. Torres received her Ph.D. in Family Resource Management and Family Economics from The Ohio State University in 1977.

Steven Reader and  Jennifer Goldman

Steven Reader,Ph.D., Postdoctoral Associate

Dr. Reader completed his graduate studies in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology, specializing in clinical child and pediatric psychology, and did his pre-doctoral clinical internship in Delaware. He is currently providing clinical services for our school-linked mental health services in Columbia County.

Jennifer Goldman, M.S., Clinical Associate

Ms. Goldman is currently providing clinical services for our school-linked mental health services in Columbia County. She received her M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling and Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and will soon be completing her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University.
